We are looking for a Assistant Shipping and Logistics Manager to join Team OB in our Support Office on a maternity cover contract.
As an Assistant Shipping and Logistics Manager at OB you will support and deputise for the Shipping and Logistics Manager, working collaboratively between various departments, third parties and suppliers, to deliver the best in service to the brand. Supporting and leading the Shipping Coordinator and Admin Assistant to ensure all stock arrives into our Warehouse in the most efficient manner.
Our Support Office is based in Tolworth, near Chessington, only a 30-minute journey from London Waterloo. We offer hybrid working with a split of 3 days in the office and 2 days home working per week, and are open to having conversations about working flexibly.

An OB Assistant Shipping and Logistics Manager will:
- In conjunction with the Shipping and Logistics Co-ordinator, investigate and plan the most appropriate route for shipment, taking into account cost, transit time and security.
- Work with Suppliers and Buying and Merchandising teams to resolve queries at origin, to ensure stock departs on time in line with critical path. This covers all transport modes; air, road and sea.
- Ensure all pending shipments are customs cleared and the correct documentation has been received.
- Oversee Shipping team and Oliver Bonas WH interactions, to ensure all supply chain factors are considered in decision making. This includes port delays and dwell time, intake capacity and WH space.
- Review and approve freight invoices and resolve any queries.
- Work with various air freight providers to ensure best price and service are delivered for air freight shipments.
- Review and maintain landed cost and analyse issues and find resolutions.
- Help to run and scope internal project and ad hoc tasks in conjunction with the Senior Shipping and Logistics manger
- Work with internal departments in the company to make improvements to processes
- Manage and maintain current knowledge of all HMRC import/export relationships ensuring the business is compliant with all legislation and taxation
- Maintain current knowledge of political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight

What we look for:
- Previous international shipping experience
- Extensive knowledge of national/international import/export legislation
- Previous management experience desired but not essential.
- Experience negotiating with freight forwarders.
- Understanding of WH processes and best practice.
- In depth knowledge of the customs clearance process
- Team player
- Effective negotiation skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong numeric skills and able to use these in all daily tasks.
- Proven track record of building relationships with forwarders and transport companies.
