We have an amazing opportunity for a Technical Store Designer to join Team OB in our Support Office.

As a Technical Store Designer, at OB you will be responsible for the production of project department drawing packs, including store construction fit out packs, bespoke fixture fabrication drawings and any project associated detailing. In addition, you will be supporting the Store Design Manager with creating visually exciting and memorable retail spaces in line with the OB brand ethos.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment, where you will be a key member of the OB Store Design team, ready to work collaboratively and to contribute your ideas. Organised and detail oriented, you’ll be able to work across multiple projects at one time.

With a keen commercial eye and strong attention to detail, you will bring to life through your technical drawing ability the departments vision for display fixtures and stores.

Our Support Office is based in Tolworth, near Chessington, only a 30-minute journey from London Waterloo. We offer hybrid working with a split of 3 days in the office and 2 working from home each week.

More about the role …

OB’s Technical Store Designer will:

  • Assist in the design and development of fixtures, fittings, furniture and signage.
  • Produce full detailed ‘For Construction’ drawing packages ready for statutory bodies, landlords and in-house approvals for tender and construction phases
  • Assist the Store Design Manager in managing department drawing project workloads, coordinating with external agencies.
  • Research current store construction/fabrication trends, attending all relevant trade shows, pulling together inspo and ideas for new store design elements
  • Work with Construction Project Manager and Facilities Team to ensure all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to
  • Compile full sets of “as built” technical drawings to include technical specification relating to appropriate codes of practice or regulations
  • Compile inspirational images notes and drawings in sketch books for future development.
  • Create, implement and maintain an up to date library of all drawing packs, drawing resources, designs, samples and materials
  • Develop a strong commercial awareness and understanding of the OB stock package in relation to shop fit design
  • Manage the house keeping of sent and received design drawings and photos and associated project documentation
  • Space plan survey of historical OB stores to ensure all locations have accurate CAD info.

What we look for:

  • Advanced level use of Vectorworks 2D/3D
  • Ability to use Adobe Suite and Photoshop is essential, while knowledge of Illustrator & Indesign would be beneficial
  • Confidence using Sketch Up or similar render programmes
  • A natural flair for technical detailing
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation
  • A proactive approach and the ability to use initiative when problem-solving
  • Creative thinking with a strong commercial understanding
  • Ability to demonstrate experience and knowledge of building regulations and British Standards, either through qualifications or past experience
  • Previous experience in retail or F&B interior design or architecture is essential
  • Experience in managing your own workload as well as meeting multiple projects deadlines
  • Proven experience using your communication skills both externally and at all levels within the company, both written and verbal
