We are looking for a Store Design Manager to join Team OB in our Support Office.
As a Store Design Manager at OB you will manage the store design team providing guidance, overseeing their workload and the production of the project department drawing work, including store construction fit out packs, bespoke fixture fabrication drawings and any project associated detailing.
You will provide guidance and assistance to the rest of the design team to ensure deadlines are met throughout the project lifecycle – from receipt of the concept through to delivery of the design in the construction phase.
You will report into the Head of Store Design and Construction, ready to work collaboratively and to
contribute your ideas.
With a keen commercial eye and strong attention to detail, you will ensure store designs are delivered to a high standard and to current regulations and guidelines.
Our Support Office is based in Tolworth, near Chessington, only a 30-minute journey from London Waterloo. We offer hybrid working with a split of office, store and home working each week

An OB Store Design Manager will:
- Lead the production of full detailed ‘for construction’ drawing packages ready for statutory bodies, landlords and in-house approvals for tender and construction phases
- Manage the department drawing project workloads, coordinating with external agencies, and assisting with the management of team members
- Assist in the design and development of fixtures, fittings, furniture and signage
- Research current store construction/fabrication trends, attending all relevant trade shows, pulling together inspiration and ideas for new store design elements
- Work with Construction Project Manager and Facilities Team to ensure all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to Compile full sets of “as built” technical drawings to include technical specification relating to appropriate codes of practice or regulations
- Demonstrate experience and knowledge of building regulations and British Standards, either through qualifications or past experience
- Manage, implement and maintain an up to date library of all drawing packs, drawing resources, designs, samples and materials
- Develop a strong commercial awareness and understanding of the OB stock package in relation to shop fit design.
- Manage the house keeping of sent and received design drawings and photos and associated
- Mentor the design team to upskill on their technical knowledge, building regulations, principal designer requirements and CDM responsibilities
- Coach and develop through feedback, progress chats, and appraisals to ensure all team members have clear and stretching development goals and are delivering their best work
- Build a strong team and motivate them to collaborate and support each other to ensure effective communication
- Participate and contribute in all departmental and team discussions using your influence to positively affect outcomes

What we look for:
- Accomplished designer with solid experience in retail or F&B interior design or architecture
- Experience of managing own workload as well as meeting multiple project deadlines
- Experience of managing a small team
- Construction project management experience benefical
- Advanced Vectorworks 2D/3D – essential
- Advanced Sketch up – essential
- Adobe suite, Photoshop, illustrator & Indesign essential
- Microsoft office
- Strong communication skills and able to communicate across all levels
- Strong attention to detail and good eye for design
- Problem solving skills
